Is class suspended?

DepEd has finally released their guidelines on which grade levels' classes are suspended once a typhoon is announced. That will make it easier for students and parents when to stay home during a typhoon.

Here are the guidelines that DepEd released, this is in accordance with PAG-ASA's announcement (courtesy of Yahoo):
  • Signal No. 1 - Classes in all Preschool Levels are automatically suspended in both public and private schools.
  • Signal No. 2 - Classes in all Preschool, Elementary and Secondary levels are automatically suspended in all public and private schools.
  • Signal No. 3 - Classes in all Levels are suspended in both public and private school.
However, in the absence of a storm warning signal, DepEd will give the full authority to announce suspension of classes by the school principal, division superintendent and local government unit.

On the other hand, there are talks of moving the school year to September to avoid the rainy weather at its height. In my opinion, this will be a "not so bad" decision since the students will be safe from the calamities, specially during strong typhoons, by staying at home.

What do you think?
