Sa Tuwing Ako'y Nasa Loob Ng Dyip

Inaamin kong ako ay isang mareklamong tao. Sa tuwing sasakay ako ng dyip, andami kong kwentong baon sa pagbaba ko. Marami akong naoobserbahan at sangkatutak naman ang aking komento pagdating nito.

Kaya kayong mga pasahero, kung hindi niyo namamalayan kung ano ito at manhid kayo na para bang mantikang nilagay sa pridyider, aba e, oras na para bumangon ka sa iyong kahibangan. Huwag kaligtaang mag-isip kung tama ba o hindi ang iyong mga ginagawa sa tuwing nasa loob kayo ng pampublikong sasakyan.

Sa tingin ko naman, pagkakataon ko ng magparamdam sa mga taong walang pakiramdam. Tabi tabi po at baka kung saan kayo tamaan, bumagsak at lumagapak kayo sa kung saan. tsk tsk

Di ko na pipigilin pa, eto na ang aking obserbasyon, opinyon at "wild reaction" kung sa Ingles pa.

• Ika nga ni Pnoy sa halos lahat ng kanyang talumpati na hindi niya kinakalimutang ibanggit ang tungkol sa "daang matuwid". Nalilito ka kung ano ang koneksyon nito sa pagsakay ng dyip? Simple lang, ikaw ay nasa daan kaya umupo ka ng matuwid. Naiintindihan ko naman kung ang suot mo ay maikli gaya ng pekpek shorts o mini skirts. Pero kung naka pantalon ka naman, di naman siguro kelangan tumagilid. Mas lalong di ko mapapalagpas kung sumandal ka pa sa katabi mo. Ginawa mo pang suporta sa likod gaya ng silya at kung makasandal ka e relaks na relaks pa na para bang nasa spa ka lang.

• Hindi ikaw ang tinutukoy ni Mariah Carey na butterfly sa kanyang awit na noong panahon ay hit na hit. Hindi ka rin agila na kung lumipad e matulin at lalong lalo ng hindi pakpak ang mga legs mo para ibukaka ng higit pa sa 90 degrees. Pwede bang isara niyo naman ng konti ang mga legs niyo. • Si mamang drayber ay tao din at hindi aso na susutsutin upang ang atensyon nito ay mapunta sa'yo. Paalala lang po, tayo po ay mga tao at biniyayaan ng Diyos ng iba't ibang parte ng katawan. Isa na dito ang bibig kaya gamitin natin ng maayos ang biyayang ito. Para naman ke hirap sabihin ang "para po", "sa tabi lang po" o "bababa po ako".

• Hindi magnet ang ating mga pwet. Nakakainis talaga kapag punong puno na ang dyip at mahirap maglakad papuntang dulo at hindi man lang umuusog ang mga taong nasa bandang huli. Mas nakakainis kung ang dyip na ito ay maliit gaya na lang ng multicab na usong uso dito sa Davao. Mas lalong nakakainis kapag ang mga taong ayaw umusog e maraming dala na nakakadistorbo sa gitna ng daan gaya na lang ng mga palanggana, karton karton ng groceries o di kaya'y mga pinamalengke nila. Kaya pasensya na, kung naapakan (ng sadya) ko ang mga paa niyo ha? tsk tsk

O siya siya, ako ay hihinto na at baka di ay aatakihin ng highblood nito.

Pero bago ko tatapusin to, sana man lang po ay maging sensitibo naman tayo sa ating mga katabi. Hindi lahat ng tao ay nakakaintindi sa bawat galaw mo. E kung di niyo naman kayang maging sensitibo aba, mag ipon ipon na kayo ng pambili niyong sasakyan. Sa ganoong paraan, hindi kayo nakakadistorbo kahit nakahilata kayo. Di ba?

It's been a long time since I last made an entry and I must say that I had become a little bit unfamiliar with blogging already. Thanks to the blocked internet access during work (sarcastic tone).

Anyway, along with the unfamiliarity of the blog which I almost forgot, I had the chance just today to make an online transaction, ticket purchase and seat reservation, to watch a movie at Abreeza Cinema. And because of the easy transaction that we did 10 minutes ago, we're going to watch Ice Age 4 today at 2:45 PM.

To do an online purchase, you can simply go to Sureseats webpage, register/login into your account, choose which cinema and do a purchase. Once you have done that, you can print your ticket, present it to the cinema and watch the show.

However, if you don't have a printer nearby, you can simply take a photo of the ticket by using your cellphone or camera and present it to the ticket counter. Make sure that the photo is clear and the characters are readable. My uncle has done this before and it's valid even without the hard copy of the ticket.

Aside from that, Sureseats has made their website cool so that you can add friends and make a status.

So if you're thinking of all the hassles when you buy a ticket where blockbuster movies are being shown, just remember that you can stay away from long queues by doing a purchase online.

Vacation Destinations: D' Leonor Inland Resort

Last January 28, we had the chance of enjoying an overnight stay at D' Leonor Inland Resort which is located at Communal, Buhangin, Davao City.

It was an abrupt decision and we had to gate crash my sister-in-law's neighbor's birthday party. Luckily, my generous sister-in-law was sport enough to reserve and pay for our room to which we enjoyed totally.

Anyway, without further ado, here are a few photos that I am super willing to share to give you an idea of how much beauty the 29 hectare resort is and how much relaxation it can give you.

The entrance to the pool. The front desk is located here also. Inquiries to room rates, reservations, function hall packages and others are available at the front desk.

This is another entrance to the wave pool but apparently, it was not available for our use.

This is the entire pool that will greet you when you enter the wave pool area.
Swimming fees are Php 150.00 for kids and Php 250.00 for adults.

Surrounding the pool area is a foot dip. Slippers are not allowed at the pool area.

This is a closer look of the slide. The slide area is especially made for the kids.
The mechanical waves does not reach the kiddie pool area and is perfectly safe for the children.

These are the cottages that are located before the main pool area.
Day rent would cost Php 500.00 for single and Php 800.00 for the double.

Swimmers can make use of these when swimming.
Salbabida or the rubber tube is at Php 75.00 while the paddle boat is at Php 150.00.
Life vests are free for everyone to use and comes in different sizes.
Plus, 'D Leonor makes sure that they have a lifeguard on duty during swimming time.

The right portion of the front desk is designed with jars. I was too shy to take a picture of the front desk as the attendants were too busy talking to their clients. 

Also at the front desk for the guests to utilize while waiting for their room keys, gate passes and other stuff to be attended. My kids most likely enjoyed them while we paid for the wave pool fee.

Too bad I wasn't able to take a few photos of the zoo, the mechanical surfing area and the entrance. If you opt to go for day tour, they will charge you an entrance fee. Overnight stays need not pay their entrance fee anymore.

The children had so much fun when we went there. Well, if you wish to relax, this might just be the place for you. 

Christmas Countdown: 2012 Holidays

Now that most of us are counting down days until Christmas, bonuses, 13th month and parties, let me take you back to a post I had shared with you earlier.

I'm pretty sure that there will be plenty of surprise airfare ticket price discounts for the year 2012 and because of that, you have to plan ahead. By the time that airlines post their ticket price slash off, you are more than ready to book your own flight anytime and anywhere.

There will be plenty of long weekends, if the government is willing to move their holidays to the nearest Monday.

Taking Care of Your Laptop's Battery

I recently got an Acer laptop (thank you mommy, by the way) and I had been a little too cautious of the battery's life. This was because of my youngest brother.

See, my younger brother got his Acer laptop a little about a year ago, if I'm not mistaken. Right now, his battery's life went from good to bad due to constant use of his unit. When he went to check how much a battery costs, we were shocked to find out that the it ranges between Php 5,000 to Php 7,000.

After learning the costs to replace a worn out battery, I'm starting to be paranoid. Alright, not just a little bit but more than 60% paranoid.

Anyway, I had been asking for tips from a few friends who are technically inclined when it comes to electronic devices and I found out a few that I think will help not just me but also you.

Let me share them:

• Avoid draining a Lithium ion battery.
• Avoid using your laptop while it's charging.
• Keep your battery contacts clean.
• Use an idle battery once every 2 to 3 weeks.
• Hibernate your laptop instead of putting it on standby.
• Avoid using your laptop at high temperature areas.
• If you need to use your device for a couple of hours and multitask, it's better to plug it in. Make sure to remove your battery while your laptop is plugged in. This is also best in areas with little to no brownouts.

Techie experts say that following these steps will help you extend your battery's life for 1 to 4 years.

Well, I hope these tips are helpful. 

I sure am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to follow these steps religiously. Oh well.

article writing fiasco

Well, I think it's the end of my article writing career. Eeep! At least I tried, anyway. no regrets.

I thought article writing was easy. A friend of mine told me that it wasn't at all hard. She even added that the key to article writing is search and reconstruct.

Well, anyway, I started article writing last Thursday. I was given a guide: title, headings, sub headings, and what to put in the articles. Main subject was Burlesque costumes. To be honest, I know nothing about Burlesque productions or anything that's associated with it.

Now, imagine being handed out 10 articles of that subject and an additional 5 more on Sunday with the same title. I went crazy, naturally. It was like my head was spinning like a top. After 3 articles of the subject, my brain became numb (information overload).

Nevertheless, I had learned some tips on article writing:

• Redundancy - Never be redundant. Using words with the same meaning, like unique and different, is redundancy. 
• Reconstruct - Never copy a sentence from your searches. Your article will be tagged as "copied" if they had found 4 or more words that are the same with the other articles (They have softwares to scan through the article for copyright).
• Proof reading - I admit it, I don't usually do that. Instead, I let my sister-in-law or my colleague here read it and give me some comments. Normally, I would correct what MS Word underlines, like grammar and spelling. 
• Transition - If you're going to skip from one subject to another, you have to have a smooth flow in order for the reader to understand more easily what you're talking about and where you're heading. Otherwise, the reader would lose interest on the article if you suddenly stop from one subject and skipped to another subject without correlating both.
• Read blogs - I think, the best way to learn is to become a reader yourself. You'll be able to decipher which articles are easy to follow (transition wise) and which are interesting (fun and easy to understand).

*sigh*.

Safe or Unsafe Plastics?

Just now, my sister-in-law asked me which plastics are safe for baby bottles. Apparently, she have bought one made from Polypropylene, which is better known as PP plastics.

After I resigned from my previous work a good 4 years ago, I haven't come across anything that connects to plastics anymore, so I had to dome some searching on the internet for information of such.

I came across this article from Care2 Make a Difference and quoting it on this blog article for the benefit of everyone. (I hope they won't get mad at me for this).

1 Polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE) 
Used to make soft drink, water, sports drink, ketchup, and salad dressing bottles, and peanut butter, pickle, jelly and jam jars.
GOOD: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones.

2 High density polyethylene (HDPE)
Milk, water, and juice bottles, yogurt and margarine tubs, cereal box liners, and grocery, trash, and retail bags.
GOOD: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones.

3 Polyvinyl chloride (V or PVC) 
Most cling-wrapped meats, cheeses, and other foods sold in delicatessens and groceries are wrapped in PVC.
BAD: To soften into its flexible form, manufacturers add “plasticizers” during production. Traces of these chemicals can leach out of PVC when in contact with foods. According to the National Institutes of Health, di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), commonly found in PVC, is a suspected human carcinogen.

4 Low-density polyethylene (LDPE)
Some bread and frozen food bags and squeezable bottles.
OK: Not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones, but not as widely recycled as #1 or #2.

5 Polypropylene (PP)
Some ketchup bottles and yogurt and margarine tubs.
OK: Hazardous during production, but not known to leach any chemicals that are suspected of causing cancer or disrupting hormones. Not as widely recycled as #1 and #2.

6 Polystyrene (PS)
Foam insulation and also for hard applications (e.g. cups, some toys)
BAD: Benzene (material used in production) is a known human carcinogen. Butadiene and styrene (the basic building block of the plastic) are suspected carcinogens. Energy intensive and poor recycling.

7 Other (usually polycarbonate)
Baby bottles, microwave ovenware, eating utensils, plastic coating for metal cans
BAD: Made with biphenyl-A, a chemical invented in the 1930s in search for synthetic estrogens. A hormone disruptor. Simulates the action of estrogen when tested in human breast cancer studies. Can leach into food as product ages.

T-Shirt Folding - The Japanese Way

Just the other day, when I arrived work, there was a t-shirt lying on the table. I didn't hesitate to pick it up and folded it. Having in mind the video that I saw years ago, the 2 seconds T-shirt folding, I did just that. My officemates were actually curious on how I did that as I demonstrated it for the 4th time.

Drawing Tip #101

Have you ever tried drawing a human hand? Is it difficult? I had tried drawing one before, but, I never reached the point to having it look realistic and even shaped as a human hand.

Anyhow, I saw this video on Youtube uploaded by Mark Crilley, the creator of Brody's Ghost.

Well, in my future amateur drawings, I hope I will remember the tips and apply them in drawing a human hand.

Segregation in Davao, It's a Must!

A month ago, I had the privilege of joining a half day seminar on Segregation of household wastes spearheaded by Brgy. Sasa of Davao City. City Councilor Marissa Abella was one of the guest speaker together with a CENRO official who shared their expertise on the matter.


Anyway, he's an online article from Mayor Sarah Duterte's Davao City News Blog which she shared to her followers on Facebook. To quote:

Davao’s ‘no segregation, no collection’ policy starts July 1

DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/7 June) – Starting July 1, Davaoeños will have to segregate their garbage as the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) will start implementing the “no segregation, no collection” policy.
Dolores Remojo, environment chair of CENRO, made the announcement on the implementation of the city ordinance for ecological solid wastemanangement during the Kapihan sa Dabaw press forum at SM CityDavao on Monday.
Last May 3, the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the city’s Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance of 2009 was approved and signed by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. The ordinance is in line with Republic Act 9003, the Act Providing for Ecological Solid WasteManagement Program.
Out of 182 barangays in the city, 103 are accessible to garbage collectors. The rest could not avail of the service due to distance.
But Remojo said CENRO is working out to provide the service to all barangays.
She said that 95 of barangays have already been visited by the CENRO’s information education communication (IEC) teams. The IEC teams are actively going to the different barangays to orient officials on their participation, forming their respective barangay solid waste management committees.
Provisions related to the solid waste management plan, reduction and banning of the use of certain non-biodegradable products, proper disposal of carcass and excreta of animals, segregation of solid waste, collection and transport, materials recovery and processing, the IEC campaign, and penalties to be imposed are just some points tackled in the said ordinance.
Penalties in violating the ordinance include fines ranging from P300 to P5,000, community service, and imprisonment as long as six months.
As her closing note in the press forum, Remojo called for all the sectors in the city to cooperate in practicing waste segregation, where she said the initiative would not be successful without them. 

According to the CENRO official, which was also affirmed by Councilor Abella, wastes will be segregated into 4 different containers: Biodegradable Wastes, Non-Biodegradable Wastes, Special Wastes and Residual Wastes.

• Biodegradable wastes are wastes that rots. Left over food is an example of biodegradable waste.
• Non-Biodegradable wastes are wastes that can be sold. Such are selected plastics, cans, glasses.
• Residual Wastes are wastes that can't be recycled and can't be sold. Example of these are smoked cellophanes, rags, clothes, diapers, napkins, etc.
• Special Wastes are wastes that come from electrical and with toxic substances. These include dry cell batteries, electrical wires, fuse, light bulb, fluorescent lamps, etc.

Since biodegradable wastes can be made into compost and Non-Biodegradable wastes can be sold, ONLY the Residual and Special Wastes will be collected by the garbage trucks. Anybody caught violating the City Ordinance will be penalized accordingly, minimum of Php 300.00 - Php 5,000 penalty plus imprisonment depending on the violation (I will try to research and post the violations and penalties).


According to CENRO, they will be inspecting random houses within Davao City to check for the 4 segregating cans (sacks may also be used). Remember to label the cans as they will be checking for it also.


Additional tip, if you have pets at home, make sure that they poo and pee within your compound. The dog owner will be penalized, when caught by officials, should their dog poo and pee outside the compound.


I know that taking this into effect would require cooperation in the community and perseverance. To quote James Levine "A lot of people get impatient with the pace of change." and Winston Churchill, “There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction.”


Guys, let's do our share in helping the environment. Let's be pro-active instead of reactive.


Oh, and wait, before I wrap this blog entry, I would just like to share what I had read. These are the list of food / material and time to decompose:

• Banana Peel - 3 to 4 weeks
• Paper Bag - 1 month
• Cardboard - 2 months
• Wool Sock - 1 year

• Aluminum Cans - 200 to 500 years

• Plastic Bags - 20 to 1,000 years
• Plastic Jugs - 1 million years
• Glass - 1 to 2 million years
• Styrofoam - 1+ million years

Another trivia guys, plastic shopping bags have a Biodegradable logo text already. That's certainly one good move.

Everyone knows that gadgets and water don't get along. But fear not, all may not be lost when your smartphone, digital camera or other tech device takes an unexpected nose dive into the pool or ocean. Resuscitation can still be done with the help of a few key tips.

Although your gut reaction may be to take the battery out of your drenched device, dry it off and try it again, the battery should remain out until it's completely dry to avoid a shortage. Then use a towel to not only dry the battery, but also the area inside the device where the battery sits.

However, resist all temptation to pick up a hair dryer or let the device sit in the sun to help along the drying process. Gadgets need to be dried with still, dry air, not with excess heat.

Drying the device shouldn't stop with just cleaning up the wet areas. Place the device into a covered bowl or container of dry, uncooked rice to soak up all of the moisture from the device. It should sit there overnight in a cool, dry place.

Uncover the container the next morning, remove the device and hope for the best.
